Building on day 1, today focuses on understanding strengths. We apply this methodology to strength-focused capture and influencing the RFP, as well as Strength-Based Solutioning®. As always, we build in time for lessons learned and Q&A.

Building on days 1 and 2, we bring strength-based methodology to bear on content planning, strength statement writing, and effective proof points. We also discuss SUPS and how to conduct strength based proposal reviews. You’ll leave with practical lessons learned to efficiently improve your win rates.

READ BIODoug has been at the forefront of business development and proposal strategy and execution for more than 35 years. At Lohfeld Consulting, Doug serves as a bid strategist, Strength-Based Solutions® advisor, volume lead, storyboard developer, and color team lead and participant. He is also a capture management expert, both co-designing and teaching multiple Lohfeld training classes, and advises on pursuit strategy, proposal development, and review.
His capture management experience ranges from small to large awards (including DOD multi-billion-dollar indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity vehicles). He has offered strategic diagnostic experience for businesses of all sizes in pursuit of key opportunities, ranging from $100M-$1B+ in value across a wide range of Government agencies and departments.
A technical expert as well, Doug offers clients in-depth experience on a wide range of topics. This includes technology development and transfer, research and development (R&D) processes and techniques, and Federal Government policy development and analysis (in areas including resiliency, emergency management, first response, information assurance, survivability and vulnerability, energy, environment, and security).
Prior to joining Lohfeld, he served as Partner and Vice President of Global Resilience, Security, and Defense Teams at Booz Allen, and as Senior Vice President and Director Security, Energy and Environment at NORC at the University of Chicago.
Doug received his PhD in Physics from Georgetown University and retains an active Top Secret clearance. He is a Senior Life Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE), as well as Speaker for the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM). He is an active member of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) and the Acoustical Society of America (ASA).
Louise has spent over 25 years leading and writing successful proposals and oral presentation scripts for complex, high-value federal contracts in sectors like defense, national security, civilian, health, and public safety. She is recognized for her exceptional talent in interviewing SMEs and technical staff to develop compelling, compliant, and high-scoring content.
In addition to proposal writing, Louise leads oral presentation efforts as a coach—including script-writing, reviews, rehearsals, and recovery—while regularly updating proposal and executive leadership. Her functional experience spans cybersecurity, cloud, finance, data and AI, supply chain, and technology transformation. Louise brings a unique blend of proposal management, on-site federal project management, and journalism expertise to deliver persuasive, polished proposals that win.
Louise holds APMP Foundation-level certification, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation certification, and a BA in journalism from the University of Nevada.
Wendy has over 20 years’ experience winning complex, multimillion-dollar federal contracts for major high-technology companies. As a proposal manager, writer, volume lead, and trainer, Wendy brings proven skills throughout the entire business development (BD) lifecycle, including sales, capture management, proposal management, and program management. She is adept at formulating strategies, identifying strengths and discriminators, integrating capabilities of diverse organizations to create seamless offerings, developing pricing strategies, and managing all technical and logistical aspects of proposal preparation. She expertly presents complex technical proposals, prepares line staff for orals, and directs the proposal review process, including all color reviews.
Wendy has been recognized as the only Certified Professional Proposal Manager (PPM) who is also a National Contract Management Association (NCMA) Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM). She is also recognized as a Fellow by both NCMA and APMP. Wendy holds a Master of Science degree and a BA in Chinese (Honors) from Stanford University.
