The APMP® certification program is the only industry-recognized standard for demonstrated bid, proposal, and capture competency in the world of government contracting. Our 1-day Foundation Certification prep course, sponsored by the APMP Chesapeake Chapter and Lohfeld Consulting trains participants for the refreshed APMP Foundation V4 certification exam, based on the APMP Body of Knowledge (BoK). The competencies are classified into four groups:

• Focus on the customer
• Create deliverables
• Manage processes
• Use tools and systems

The course explains best practices for implementing the competencies and provides examples and practice test questions.

Exam content

The exam is a 65-minute multiple-choice, pass-fail, open-book exam with 75 questions. The class fee includes the exam cost. Lohfeld Consulting will register you for the exam, and the APM Group will provide you a voucher you can use to take the online test within one (1) year.

Seminar schedule

Class is conducted via a live webinar. Prior to training, our instructor will email a link to access the webinar. On the day of the training, you will join the Zoom class to view the course slides and hear the instructor’s presentation. During class, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and answer practice questions in preparation for the exam.

We recommend taking the exam online soon after the webinar, but you can take it any time within a one (1)-year timeframe.

Students must have at least one (1) year of experience in proposals to earn their certification.

Before taking the class, ensure you purchase the APMP Foundation Study Guide version 4.2 and the Industry Glossary of Terms version 8.0 from APMP. Both provide answers to the questions tested in the Bid/Proposal Foundation exam.

Class fee

Brenda Crist teaches our Modern Proposal Writing for Federal Contractors class, Bid and Proposal Boot Camp – Prepare your team to win business class, and APMP Foundation Level Certification Preparation class. Brenda has more than 30 years of experience providing capture, proposal, and program management support for IT companies serving the federal market. She is currently a Vice President at Lohfeld Consulting Group. Prior to becoming a full-time proposal professional, Brenda served as a Group Manager for OAO Corporation and Project Manager for Harris Corporation. She has provided onsite system, application, and network management solutions for civilian and military clients.

Brenda holds a Master of Public Administration from American University. She is certified at the Professional Level by the Association of Proposal Management Proposals (APMP) and has delivered APMP certification training to hundreds of students since 2011. Brenda is an APMP Fellow and former Chapter Chairperson
of the Year.
