Thirty new opportunities just landed on this month’s active bids list, and four of them have responses due soon. The Space Force’s $655M Mission Delta 9 (MD9) – SL-5 EC2-S Ground System Sustainment RFI and the Air Force’s CNS/ATM Recompete, are both due on September 11; the FAA’s $41.4M Environmental Management, Analysis, Research, and International Support (EMARIS) II RFI closes September 18; and a $1.5M Navy sources sought for Logistics Analyst (Table of Allowance (TOA) Support) and Administrative Assistant Services is due by September 7, 2026. Each one is a real window to shape requirements before evaluation criteria lock in, and the smallest of the three is the fastest path to a new agency relationship.

Federal FY26 closes September 30, and agencies are clearing backlogs at breakneck speed. Expect a wave of draft RFPs and industry days in October, including the Air Force’s Next Generation Falconer AOC industry day on October 30 and SEMATS 4 statements of interest due the same day. If you need help with any of these bids, contact Lohfeld Consulting for capture and proposal support.

This blog features 30 active bids across Mega (>$500M), Mighty ($10M–$499M), and Mini (<$10M) categories, each vetted for real government engagement—not speculative pipelines. 1. Diplomatic Platform Support Services II (DiPSS II)
Agency: Dept. of State (DOS), Global Acquisitions (GA) Office
NAICS Code: 541614 – Process, Physical Distribution and Logistics Consulting Services
    GovWin Opp ID: 263330
    Solicitation Number: 19AQMM26R0179
    RFP Type: IDIQ
    Competition Type: Undetermined
    Value: $8.5B
    RFP Date: 10/2026
Description: The government requires a broad range of support services sustaining U.S. diplomatic operations worldwide. These services are organized across seven areas: Program Management; Construction; Life Support; Logistics and Supplies; Medical and Emergency; Operations and Maintenance; and Security Support. The DiPSS II IDIQ covers virtually every aspect of running overseas facilities. Work performed under this contract will primarily serve DOS and partner agencies operating under the Chief of Mission Authority, though select non-Chief of Mission engagements may also apply. Ultimately, the contract aims to keep U.S. diplomatic platforms safe, functional, and fully resourced in even the most remote or high-risk environments.
Status: On June 10 and 11, 2026, the government issued a notice stating they are currently working to finalize the acquisition strategy and obtain internal approvals. Once those approvals are obtained, they plan to engage industry and will announce all updates or opportunities through SAM.gov. Previously, on March 26, 2026, the government released two documents: Attachment 1: Draft Capability Areas, and Attachment 2: Draft DiPSS II NAICs Codes. Responses were due April 16, 2026.
  2. Mission Delta 9 (MD9) – SL-5 EC2-S Ground System Sustainment
Agency: U.S. Space Force (USF), Combat Forces Command (CFC), Space Acquisition & Integration Office (SAIO)
NAICS Code: 541330 – Engineering Services
    GovWin Opp ID: 267444
    Solicitation Number: RFIMD9202601
    RFP Type: Undetermined
    Competition Type: Undetermined
    Value: $655M
    RFP Date: 12/2026
Description: The government needs a single prime contractor to sustain the Enterprise Command and Control – Schriever (EC2-S) ground system enclave, which underpins the Surveillance LEO-5 (SL-5) mission and hosted payloads aboard Japan’s Quasi-Zenith Satellite System-Hosted Payload (QZSS-HP). Today, that sustainment work is fragmented across program management, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and technical support, and the government has traced several operational risks to the gap — configuration and security baselines drifting during high-tempo mission windows, uneven Tier II/III engineering coverage that strains availability targets, and training and documentation that fall behind as the ground baseline evolves. The winning contractor will deliver cohesive full-lifecycle sustainment that stabilizes the baseline and keeps the architecture continuously available and secure. Because SL-5 runs largely unclassified, much of the coordination can happen outside SAPF spaces, which widens the pool of firms that can realistically compete.
Status: Responses to the RFI are due at 11:00 AM MT on September 11, 2026.
  3. Battlespace Modeling and Simulation Engineering Services (BMS)
Agency: Dept. (DON), Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD)

    GovWin Opp ID: 253584
    Solicitation Number: N0042125RFPREQ54000MA0059
    RFP Type: IDIQ
    Competition Type: Undetermined
    Value: $500M
    RFP Date: 12/2026
Description: The government requires BMS Engineering Services at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland, focused on developing and integrating a new electronic warfare pod model into existing simulation environments. The pod, designed to be carried by the F/A-18E/F, EA-18G, P-8, and MQ-4 platforms, will provide both passive sensing and active jamming capabilities across the Ku and Ka signal bands. Initial model development will take place at the contractor’s facility at the SECRET classification level, with subsequent integration activities conducted at NAWCAD’s Battlespace Simulation Division. The resulting model must support standalone and distributed operations, function across the Navy’s full modeling and simulation portfolio for research, development, testing, and evaluation, and accommodate future integration into Fleet training devices. Contractors will need Special Compartmented Information (SCI) clearances and Special Access Program (SAP) access. They should anticipate developing an exportable version of the pod model cleared for delivery to allied foreign militaries.
Status: On July 22, 2026, the government released a notice indicating it will release a draft RFP in Q4 FY26 and a final RFP in Q1 FY27. Competition Type: Undetermined
    RFP Date: 9/2027
    Value: $99.5M
Description: The government needs ongoing contractor support for modeling, analysis, and tools tied to its aircraft-stores certification mission. The government certifies that weapons, tanks, and pods can be safely loaded, carried, and released across the fleet. Missions increasingly involve internally carried stores on fifth- and sixth-generation platforms plus lighter munitions with complex shapes, control surfaces, and sophisticated electronics. Meeting those challenges takes heavy Modeling and Simulation (M&S), engineering analysis, and both ground and flight testing to confirm safety of flight, airworthiness, and acceptable sea-on employment. This work depends on adapting models and tools transferred from aircraft manufacturers and feeding results back into future designs and field system updates. The contractor must support broad engineering, technical management, and non-technical expertise across software and data-driven M&S analyses, product development, network support for advanced simulation and high-performance computing environments, and standard desktop environments.
Status: Vendors must submit statements of interest by 12:00 PM CT on October 30, 2026.

Conclusion

The overwhelming majority of the 30 bids are still in the RFI, Sources Sought, or early Draft RFP stage. That is not a gap in the list; it’s the point. The window to influence scope, evaluation factors, and set-aside decisions closes the moment a solicitation drops, and roughly two dozen of these bids have not reached that moment yet. A solid capability statement submitted in September carries more weight than a flawless proposal submitted in March against criteria someone else helped write.
